I met Ellen Devlin on Twitter and we instantly bonded over our mutual love of hockey (#ALLCAPS!), kissing books, and Tom Wilson (swoon). The more we got to know each other, the more we had in common (Crafting! Doggos! Supernatural!), but it all started with the kissing books – which I highly recommend, and are both free on Kindle Unlimited (at least they are while I’m writing this).

Ellen Devlin: Hockey fan. Lover of men. And beards. And men with beards.
Also men without beards. And also, apparently, an author. Go figure.

Hello, my name is Ellen, and I’m a binge writer. And a binge reader. And TV watcher. And movie watcher, crocheter, game player, sleeper, crafter… OK, I’m a binger. Which works surprisingly well for me in a lot of ways. Others, not so much. (Hellooooo, ice cream.) But it’s true. I do things in wild bursts, and then move on to something else until my brain wraps back around to wanting to do the first thing again in another wild burst. And that’s how I wrote a book.

Ellen writes the Washington Guardians Hockey series (Romance) which so far includes KISSING MICKEY (Book 1) and CHASING PAIGE (Book 2), published by Limitless Publishing.

Just to be totally clear here, what are your hockey kissing books about?
  • Hockey.
  • Hot hockey players.
  • Flawed people.
  • Humor.
  • Steamy sex.
  • Love and caring and the quest for healthy relationships and boundaries and self-respect and self-confidence and personal growth.
  • Did I mention hockey and sex? Because, yeah… hockey and sex.
Tell us a little about KISSING MICKEY, Washington Guardians Book 1.
Kissing Mickey - Book

Not only is Tom McCullin a hockey player on my favorite team, he’s also a gorgeous, glove-dropping defenseman straight out of my wildest fantasies. He’s almost too good to be true.

Kissing Micky has Tom (Micky) McCullin, a big, hard-hitting defenseman, being traded to Washington DC’s NHL team, the Washington Guardians, which puts him back on the same team as his very best friend, Chris, for the first time since they were kids. Chris’s wife, Paige, sets Micky up with her best friend, Liz. Shenanigans ensue. (And by shenanigans I mean sex.)

“Book 1?” you ask. Yes, Book 1, because then the side characters started insisting that they wanted their story told, too. Pesky characters.

They had to wait a while because, again in true binger fashion, my brain just wasn’t ready to be writing, and had moved on to the next activity. But eventually brain and characters met up again, and although it took longer and was far more intentional, eventually there was a second book.

Tell us a little about CHASING PAIGE, your follow-up book in the Washington Guardians series.
Chasing Paige book

“Love at first sight.” It’s such a cliché. But when I saw her across a crowded room I couldn’t take my eyes off her.

Chasing Paige actually takes place before Kissing Micky, even though it’s Book 2. (I blame the characters. Liz wanted her story told first, and she’s not even a little bit shy. Or subtle. In fact, she was probably the one who orchestrated this whole thing, just by being really excited about the prospect of a book for herself and then convincing everyone else that they needed books, too. Because how cool would that be?!)

Chasing Paige is the story of how Chris and Paige met. Chris is a ridiculously sweet romantic, and he knows right away that Paige is the woman for him. Paige thinks he’s great, but something is holding her back. He’s steadfast and patient, but won’t give up on their love. He’s just swoon-worthy that way. If you’re looking for ultra-sweet, this one is for you.
Oh, there are also lots of shenanigans. Of course.

You and I both love hockey (and hockey players). Is that why you write hockey books?

The truth is I had some amazing daydreams (aka fantasies) roiling around in my head, and I wanted to write them down so they wouldn’t be lost in my brain. And then the characters kept prodding at me that their story was more than just these few little vignettes… that they were complex, and had back stories, and funny anecdotes and quirks and habits and all sorts of things that they would like me to share, please.
So, in true binger form, I kept writing. I’d go back the next day and read what I’d written, and the next bit(s) of the story would just pour out like it had been just waiting for me to bother sitting down at a keyboard.
And then… it was a book.
A hockey-themed romance novel, to be precise.

I’ve read both KISSING MICKEY and CHASING PAIGE. They are phenomenally fun both as kissing books and hockey books. What are you working on now and when can I get my hands on them?

“Why the delay?” you may ask. Well… I did mention that I’m a binge writer. I’m currently waiting for my brain to wrap back around to “Hey, let’s write stuff down now!”
And, to those of you who have read Kissing Micky and Chasing Paige, yes, Zee will get his own book. I promise. He’s one of my favorite characters, too, and definitely deserves his very own Happily Ever After.

Where can we find your books?

KISSING MICKEY (Book 1) and CHASING PAIGE (Book 2), published by Limitless Publishing, are available on Amazon – Kindle and Paperback. Both books are FREE on Kindle Unlimited!

Where can readers connect with you?
  • I love connecting with readers, so if you’re interested, the easiest place to find me is on twitter: @ellendev_author.
  • Fair warning: during hockey season my twitter feed is full of Washington Capitals hockey. #ALLCAPS, all the time. Let’s Go Caps! (Oh, and if you have never googled hot hockey players, please do so immediately. Start with Tom Wilson. You’re welcome.)
  • Or you can swing by my website and send a message through there: http://ellendevlin.com.

(and just because Olivia always has to get the last word in) Did someone say Tom Wilson? YOU’RE WELCOME!!

Tom Wilson
Tom Wilson #AllCaps
Apparently I *don’t* get the last word – Ellen wants me to remind you that Tom Wilson wears a suit just as well as he wears a jersey, and he has a puppy. Yeah, I’m smitten, too!

These covers are so delicious, you deserve to spend more time with them. Caveat: there are times in this puzzle that you feel like you are dressing two very pretty men and it is kinda depressing in the good way!
